14/04/2010 APRIL / New Dates / Ouzo at La Penultima and Monoblock

On Friday 23 of April we will be having an Ouzo Session at "La Penultima", a club located in 26 de Marzo and Pereira de La Luz, Montevideo, Uruguay. As always a wide array of styles will be present with the music of Matias Muten, Tinitus, DJ PVS1, Metis, Z@p and the visual tricks provided by Sofia Casanova aka. K-Beats. Expect a flyer and more info very soon.

23/03/2010 MARCH / [ouzo27] New Release !

After a brief delay we are happy to present our first release of 2010, "Tinitus y Willow presentan: El Propio Estilo", an album created in tight collaboration between Tinitus and his long time partner, the mysterious character known as "Willow". In "...El Propio Estilo" these artists devour the south american "cumbia" genre, mixing it with varying amounts of IDM, Glith, Abstract Hip Hop and many other genres of electronic music. Digital Cumbia ? Labels aside, "El Propio Estilo" deserves to be listened with attention. As a bonus, you will find the beatiful cover art by Maria Calvario, a uruguayan visual artist.

26/01/2010 January / New dates, announcements and release

After a brief recess due to the holidays and the summer season, we are back in track kicking off 2010 with the soon to be released [ouzo27]...

..."Tinitus y Willow presentan: El Propio Estilo ", a new EP which showcases a deconstruction of the "cumbia" genre, filtered through styles such as glitch, IDM and experimental electronica.

This album, available in February, marks a change in our release schedule. From now on we will be releasing bi-monthly albums, that makes 6 releases during 2010, and of course you can always expect a little surprise. This change is due to our plans to re start the organization of Ouzo events, which was put on a stop during the last year.

Besides this new announcements, some of the Ouzo artists are playing throughout the uruguayan coast and Monoblock takes its music to two of the most important clubs in Europe (Watergate in Berlin and Fabric in London) !

05/10/2009 NEW RELEASE / [ouzo26] "La Montaña de los Sueños Lucidos"

As of today you can download [ouzo26] by Claudio, "La Montaña de los Sueños Lucidos", a mini release which includes two tracks that show a whole new style from this producer, previously known for his work in genres such as techno and house. In this new release Claudio shows traces of his work as dubmaster for the band Maíma, and the album even includes Juan Manuel "Mara" Haran (guitar player for Maíma) as a guest artist. 25/05/2009 NEW LIVE SET BY Z@P / Z@P+MUTEN INVOLVED IN WATERLOOP

A couple of news which were present in our newsletter but werent published yet in the page....

- Matias Muten and Z@p are part of the group of artists gathered under the "Waterloop" project, which strives to raise consciousness on the global problem of water shortage, through the use of music and visuals. To read more about the project check them out on MySpace.

- Last month a new edition of the "Good Vibes" party took place in Montevideo, the live set by Z@p is available now as a free download, more than 2 hours of techno, house and much more. Download now.

28/04/2009 [OUZO24] AVAILABLE / Double album by Abdul !

The second release of the year is finally available, marking the return of the first artist to be edited by Ouzo. Twenty three releases later, Abdul (formerly Abdul Hazel Ramallah) returns with [ouzo24] "Wu-Wei / En La Floresta", the first double album released by the label. Download it now and enjoy 20 tracks which merge sensible electronics, indie, glitch, IDM, bossa nova, acoustic instruments, toys which make sound, all kinds of found obejcts and the mute, but no less important sensibility, of a dog from the Costa de Oro (*).
